Cam cover torque sequence
« on: 31 December 2007, 17:17:57 »

Got a slight oil leak from rear of cam cover and found that the bolts needed torqeing down slightly at 6 lbft, however I got a bit impatient waiting for engine to get cold and have torqued them with a warm (not hot), hopefully won't cause a problem?
Thinking about it some more has anyone got a diagram etc of the correct tightening sequence?
Cheers Pete

The torque setting is 8NM. Not sure about hot/cold, but obviously cold is the safer bet. The plastic will have expanded when hot, so probably when cold the bolts will be under-torqued, so re-torque when cold.

Temp shouldn't make much difference as your are only compressing the rubber seals.

As for sequence.....I tighten them as per heads bolts....inside - out...
