Induction kit for X20XEV ?
« on: 02 January 2008, 18:34:23 »

Hi, wondering why no company makes an induction kit for the X20XEV
the airbox setup is very similar to the V6 setup so im thinking I might be able to get one to fit.

Preblem being and maybe the answer to the question is , when I take off the airbox on the 2litre it sounds like a blown exhaust and not like the v6 when the airbox is removed from that, is there a solution to this? a panel filter by K&N isnt much cheaper than an induction kit and aint as pretty to look at under the bonnet,

your views appreciated

cheers

The airbox isn't reckoned to be restrictive on the V6 engine so it will be less so on a 4 pot.

In addition, if you change the setup to draw underbonnet air rather than cold air from in front of the radiator you will end up with less power.

Looking for a bit of both, I have a full irmsher stainless system from the cat back which has increased performance slightly, also have a german tuning chip to bring it up to 159bhp, so it makes sense to try the air system next,

I allways fit cold air feeds to my induction systems so it shouldnt draw in any warm air.

This car is used only for shows and events so its nice to have it looking and sounding good.

cheers

not sure you'll improve performance via the air intake, but if its a showcar, thats probably not prime importance

Replace the element if you like but the standard plumbing is best left as is

The standard system is good - difficult to improve on you could sort out any sharp angles - remove the bit in the lid - that is a little restrictive, I also cut the pipe back a bit as it entered the air box
