Check the fluid level and condition before you condemn it though :y

I am absolutely shocked at Omega gearboxes, I think now mileages are rising, they are proving that they do not last at all!

How many failures have we seen recently?

Maybe due to poor maintenance?

Mine's hit 60k now :'(

Time for a fluid change, methinks.

I don't think it helps when there's no dip stick on it, & you've to crawl about underneath to get to the fill/level plug. Vauxhall must've saved a whole fiver on each car! >:(

Mine had two oil changes before it started playing up at 135k miles. A recent third change and new filter didn't help but allowed the remnants of the thrust washer to come out. MOT due this months so will wait and see what other joys that brings. :'(

So do we have a forum concensus of how regularly the auto box fluid (and possibly the filter) should be chasnged on an Omega. 80k, 60k, 40k or with every engine oil change??!!! ;D

VX say at 70,000 the filter & fluid should be changed but i think you should mark that down by 20,000 ton be on the safe side. :y

Part of the trouble appears to be that when one starts to play up, people seem to ignore it, rather than do the necessary, immediate maintenence.  Drive it slipping for any length of time, it will be wrecked, when possible a fluid change would have sorted it.
