Crank sensor change
« on: 05 January 2008, 23:51:04 »

In the guide to crank sensor change..

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1174321688

there is a picture ....

The oil filter housing is the same as mine.. but in a slightly different position !! On mine the circular projection just below the lid is directly over the sensor, such that it can't be removed :(

Am I right in thinking that if I remove the lid and filter, then slacken the internal bolt, whatever size it is, I will be able to simply rotate the housing a little and tighten it up out of the way ?? or is the housing threaded into the block ?

Advice on this and internal bolt head size much appreciated, as I'll be doing this undr axle stands with not a lot of room, so working mostly by feel :(

Exactly that.....the internal bolt seems to be of two sizes, one is a spline drive type setup and the other, from memory, is 27mm.....but could be wrong.

So yes, pop the fliter out, slacken the bolt, rotate to a better position and tighten up again.

I suspect your housing may have rotated in the past due to somebody over tightening the filter cover.
