Replacing car battery
« on: 11 January 2008, 18:32:09 »

Hi hope you can help me

my car has been sorn and been sitting around in my garage and the battery is completely flat, no power at all.

Was thinking of replacing the battery as it is old, however I understand that the car alarm will go off if i disconnect the battery without first turning the ignition on then off and disconnecting within 15 seconds?!
So..if i get a replacement battery and just disconnect the old one will reconnecting the new battery cause major problems or will it just allow me to reset the alarm with the key fob??

Hope this makes sense and someone can help...

If its really flat, it will make no difference, alarm will go off when new one connected.

Proper proc is to disconnect battery within 15s of switching ign off.

If alarm goes off when new battery put on, just turn ign on and attempt to start.
