The Arena program last nite  on BBC2 was about tribute bands some were ok but the best by far were Limehouse Lizzy, the lead singer sounded just like Phil Lynott, they got a website{ www.limehouselizzy.co.uk so any old rockers on the forum get surfing 8-)

No intention of seeing a pretend band - last time I heard a band performing Thin Lizzy hits they were being sung by a certain Phil Lynott

Me too, Reading festival in 1983 when it was still a real rock festival.

I was fortunate enough to see Phil on stage with Gary Moore, just before he died....  was gob smacked to hear he'd died.....  My mates seen Limehouse many times at our local Limelight in Crewe, keeps nagging me to go along....  they're doing New Years Eve I've noticed.... :)

There was only one Phil though wasn't there?? :'(

:oI was there in 83, Lizzy, B Sab, Stranglers, Suzi Q (Ding Dong) Sab lit up these HUGE white crosses, i'l never forget it. I still lived down south then & too many of us piled into a blue Austin 1300. I was a young innocent (thin) 20yr. old. I zipped myself up in my sleeping bag, rolled around blindly into someones bonfire, was it yours? More memories than i can bore people with on here. Do'nt getme started on Stonehenge!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember standing in the arena shouting at Ian Gillan coz he was sh*te with Sabbath, but then again I was pi**ed/st**ed at the time. I blame the pubs opening at 10AM forcing me into a liquid breakfast/lunch. ;D
Nearly got arrested for knicking wood from derelict houses in the town, how did we know they were going to be renovated.
Didn't get to see Suzi Q I was outside my tent sleeping off lunch in the sun.
I've found a couple of Sabbath bootlegs and a BBC recording of Lizzy, brings back some fun memories. ;D

My wifey saw in 78 at the age of 13, the trout my darling passed out with exciement of seeing her heroes, Phil n' Scott...  she's been dancing tonight, to the Limehouse Lizzy clip... couldn't see the bloody Rugby for her in the way of the tele..

I never saw Lizzie, cause they didn't often come up to Glasgow in those days, but one of my fav LPs is "Thunder and Lightning". The way they run the "Cowboys Song" into "The Boys are Back", is pure class, one of those moments that are rarely equalled. Another example is Stepenwolf, when they run "The Pusher" into "Born to be Wild"

Back in the 80s I saw some good bands, support acts blowing off headline acts is always funny.

NEVER have Van Halen as a support act!

Theres nothing wrong with tribute bands, I saw Thin Lizzy when they still played pubs The Winning Post in Twickenham early 70s :o
