« on: 18 February 2008, 23:40:20 »

i had a second hand power steering pump put on my car about a year ago since then the servotronic has not worked. the garage that did the work gave me the run around then  closed down  about a week later,so could not take it back.  i was told at the time the pump was off a calibra dont no if that is true or not, would like to get the servotronic going again if poss any ideas.ps would they be the same pump or completely different

Pretty sure its a different pump used on the Calibra (cav) its certainly a totaly different steering setup as the Omega uses a recirculating ball steering box where as the calibra(cav) has a steering rack.

The pump actualy plays no part in the servotronic setup, this is all done by the steering box but, if the pump output pressure is to low then the steering might end up being heavy and not able to provide the extra assist at low speeds.

:D when driving at normal speed the steering works as normal. at very low speeds the steering is heavy. when you turn the steering wheel at low speeds the revs dont pick up on their own, you have to give the go pedal a poke to bring the revs up then the power steering works ok
