Seatbelt/airbag warning light on!!
« on: 25 February 2008, 21:13:14 »

Hi,
I have been enduring the red seatbelt/airbag warning lamp on my dashboard being continuously on for some time(when driving). PLEASE tell me that i do not have to replace the 'seatbelt/airbag computer' as according to Vx!
If not then is there a way to get this damn light off.

Thanks guys,
P

Have you had the airbag system codes read, if so, what was the code?

does the car have seat belt pre-tensioners and do other peolpe drive the car and move the seat?

If so check the connector under the seat that connects the pre-tensioner, get quite a few of these on all VXM models for the aove reasons

Regarding the codes - I only have the Vx dealership report that the computer is defective. I whould have hoped that they were sure of this especially at £500+!!! quoted to me for a new computer.

The car is the Omega reflection 2.5 fitted with pre-tensioners and YES the seats have been moved around a bit. I will check connectors ASAP tomorrow - would be great to get this sorted.

Thanks

The light needs to be specifically turned off after fault cured for most codes.

Anyone near you got a cheapo Tech2 (or even a real one)?

Honestly, I have been out of my league with this great car until this forum. I will start asking around to see if any local garages have a 'tech 2'
Thanks for the advice,

I was thinking if a local OOF member near you had one and be willing to read for a couple of beer tokens....   ....or if your pc is good enough, buy a cheapo tech2 (£30)

Not the kind of thing you'd do if you were putting your hand in your own pocket to buy!  ;D  :y  :y

Thanks, I will look into a E-By sourced T2. I have quite a few DIY jobs to do on this car and this may help to identify issues.

Can the connector be checked out/reconnected without disconnecting the battery for safety reasons? No possibility of triggering the airbags?
