Any ideas what this is for?
« on: 02 March 2008, 16:06:35 »

I wondered if this was a Sat Nav related item? It was loose behind the stereo when I removed the main centre controls yesterday. I have the factory fitted Sat Nav in the car but am unsure if this should be plugged in to it somewhere. It has cables coming out of it disappearing somewhere behind the dash but looks like some kind of junction box?

Your advice gratefully appreciated:

Don't have traction control button, seems to work automatically and the place the TC button is located on other models is where the Sat Nav sits:

Maybe the item is the back of an 'optional' TC button control? Hmmn...

Don't have traction control button, ......

Being a mini-face lift your TC button should be in the row above with the heated seats, eco, recirc buttons etc.
Stil no idea what it is though.

No it is for the traction control.

On mini-facelifts which don't have sat nav screen next to the head unit, the tc button is there, its rectangle and black.

But since you have the sat nav philips screen the TC button is up with the heated seats.

Nothing to worry about, just an extra peice of loom  :y

Connector is TC.

Not all mini facelifts with satnav have TC button up on switch bank - the earliest still had the button by radio, and it was removed for satnav'd cars.  They moved the button to the switch row MY98.5 IIRC

Thanks for the clarification everyone; no TC button on switches above Sat Nav, but blank button where it would most likely be.

As for the cream rugs, they are the VX supplied ones that came with the car. Difficult to keep clean though!!

Just been sodding around with my dead battery; no charge, won't charge, got to get new one tomorrow morning. Jumped the car to get it going but while driving along I put the full beams on and both times the car juddered and all the warning lights came on, engine cut out, pretty worrying stuff. I'm guessing battery / alternator related problem. What a pain in the ...
