I have had my miggy estate for 3 months now and think it's about time i started to fix a few broken interior fittings. I knew about these when i bought the car, but as the previous owner had spent £1250 on the car ( cambelt kit, exhaust, fuel filter, brakes etc etc. 5 months earlier and i verified them with the garage which done them before i bought it ) i thought the car was sound mechanically and i could live with them for a while. Well now i want to start replacing/fixing the 4 remaining parts. I have been lucky to get a load cover off e-bay for my facelift model for £20 and changed the radio/cd player for a CDR2005. All i need to do now is replace the glovebox flap,
( broken/missing lock), centre console top lid,( broken hinge ) rear door ashtray,( missing ) and the main ashtray on the console. ( wont open ) The rear ashtray looks straight forward enough but i don't know how easy the others are to do. Any thoughts or advise much appreciated. Thanx.

Timbuk has some facelift interior bit eg ashtray, but the lighter for it is in the boot of my car :-/

Glovebox lock - go to the dealers and buy a new one

Had the same problem with my front ashtray when I bought my Mig,
I had to prise the ashtray open carefully with a screwdriver, removed the screw in the back centre & removed the complete assembley.
Once out I found a piece of plastic had broken off the cigar lighter mounting & was jamming the mechanism. With that removed it opens & closes Ok but the cigar lighter is loose in the ashtray, I'll live with that till I can find a secondhand one. Shouldn't smoke I guess.

Timbuk has some facelift interior bit eg ashtray, but the lighter for it is in the boot of my car :-/

My glovebox catch was broken when I got my car and was advised there was a new one in the glovebox (even thought I couldn't get the lid undone to see!). I removed the whole glovebox and took the lid off the box and dismantled the lid to reveal the mechanism inside (inside the lid that is). There's a typically crazy arangement to release the two catches either side of the lid simoultaneously from the one catch. This was the broken bit not the catch! It wasn't a hard job to repair just a bit fiddly so it might be worth a look.

I also had a broken hinge on my armrest and got a complete replacement armrest, brand new for about 35 pounds including shipping from Germany.  I found it on Ebay.de.  They pop up quite often although sometimes they can be very expensive, so wait for a cheap one.  Just do a search for "Omega Armlehne" (Omega Armrest) on Ebay.de.

Cheers everyone for your help. I see from an earlier post that i am not the only one with the problem with the ashtray in the facia. Nice pic showing the location of the retaining screw shown so will tackle that job and the glove box lock at the weekend. Just bought sat nav so will need ashtray working so i can use the cigar lighter as an aux power source. Good idea to look on german e-bay site for replacement centre console flap too. Will pm timbuk as well to see if he has any bits i need for my facelift miggy.
