newbie advise ........ whats this worth?
« on: 11 March 2008, 13:58:46 »

hi guys

this is my first post on here and i may be purchasing an omega 3.0 elite auto

i will be pulling out the engine and putting it into my vectra.

my question is how much will i make back on the car selling it in parts. it has full cream leather, cruise, climate, electirc seats + mirrors, alloys, front fogs, towbar, the auto box and all the usual parts obviously

quick answers would be greatly appreciated as i am trying to do a deal with the car this afternoon :)

many thanks tom

Why not just buy a 3.0 Vectra?

Actually they did have a 3.0 Diesel Elite  :P

But wouldn't it be a million times easier to just buy a Vectra with a bigger engine?

I know I'm not answering your questions so apologies on that front, just curious.  :)

On a more helpful note though, you could try pm-ing a couple of the people that are breaking Omegas and have bits advertised in the appropriate section.

MarkeyMark and IrmscherKris spring immediately to mind.

What year is the omega? Also the vectra is front wheel drive and omegas are rear wheel drive,so is it the whole engine swop or just the block?

i beleive the engines are identical apart from the air inlets (which are swapped over anyway)

lots of people have done this conversion

Oh right didnt know that, just thought because one engine is transverse and the other is longtiudidal ( i cant spell!) it wouldnt work. But if its a popular conversion then it must work, interesting that as a mate of mine has bought a vectra gsi that needs a new engine i'll have to let him know  :y

I think I'd rather have the RWD setup - never liked FWD - seems totally unnatural.
