Thanks to M_DTM and Matchless
« on: 14 October 2007, 09:48:32 »

Thanks for your time yesterday.

Mr DTM, spent several hours on 'a 30 minute job' to reset the tractor cam timing. Yet another fantastic BMW design. Not!  Additionaly, thanks to you for letting me make your front room look like a PC workshop whilst I tested the MCE on your rather nice TV.  Which proved that an X300 ain't much cop at 1920 x 1080 ;D

Thanks to Mr Matchless for taking the time out from his little project  :o to check out my 'demister' :y

The journey back from Nottingahm was uneventful, returned over 40mpg, computer reckoned average spped was high 70s (must be wrong ::), so I would say that was a successful, if long, day.

Thanks :)

I should use it for scraping the drive, not enough power or grip for ploughing....

Glad its better, that BMW setup realy is shit and old fashioned.......it just adds another point to my on-going hate of this over rated power plant.

I have to say, whilst its not that bad, it is not as good as people think.  They are blinded by the fact its BMW.   Its a bastard to work on, and it was designed by a bloody idiot.  But when it works, its not that bad...

One advantage of the BMW diseasle........you need never worry about unusual squeaks and rattles, failed alternator bearings, noisy air con compressors or screaming aux belt tensioners COS YOU WONT HEAR THEM DUE TO THE DIN of a diseasle on TICKOVER.  ;D

The other thing is that BMW in thier infinate wisdom set the managemnt system so it hardly ever puts the fault light on.....even if something has failed!

But yes, you have no chance of spotting noisey alternator bearings etc!
