Does anyone know how much fuel there is in the tank when the light comes on?

At the first sign of the "red" indicator it shows - 50 miles distance, however I have "never" in over 500,000 miles of driving a number of Omega's put more than 67 litres in the tank from empty, I once drove for over 40 miles with the "Range" flashing '00' miles and then only 66 litres filled the 75 litre tank. Very rare for anyone, unless a complete idiot to run out of fuel in an Omega.

I disagree Richard...have run out of fuel before relying on the miles to go...still said I had 10 miles left...its a guide, not always accurate and if its out the wrong way then you can end up in trouble...

I noticed that on the Opel scan software, there is a page to calibrate the range information.

I have not yet investigated it, anyone tried?

That is pretty much what my 2.5v6 does, MID on at 50 then flashy dash bulb at 25-30.

Going by my MID's MPG numbers, ie. 24.9, then i have allways took it to mean 2 Gallons left, then 1Gallon when the dash goes epileptic :y

Having said that, it would surprise me if VX had not put a little slack into the tank.

I went down to zero miles indicated and also only managed to squeeze 67 litres back in, so there was still 8 litres in the tank when showing empty.  ;)

Be warned, we parked a DTi up with around 7 miles indicated on the display, came back to it later that evening, would it start, would it hell!

......of course, we had parked it on a verge with a horizontal incline. doh! Bit of juice and we were in business again  :-X

I only use my range guide as that, nothing more, as I guess no two cars are the same. I guess this is no answer to your question Phil, but thats the way I see it

Blimey, you need to find the shift key and work on your punctuation a little; your post was quite hard work to read.

No offense meant at all, but it makes life very hard to decipher a splurge of lower case words and no punctuation. A shame really becasue what you have to say is valid and has value. It is just undermined.
