Project TB2 - Update 16
« on: 14 October 2007, 20:01:13 »

Cam timing now set properly, and A/C working again (thanks M-DTM and Matchless :y).

Changed the stat today. Old one looked OK physically, but not tractor heats up quicker, and runs around mid point on gauge (does creep up to 96/97 on a long uphill booting). Flushed coolant again while I have the bonnet up, so I know its got a good 50:50 mix of Vx Red :y

Glad its looking good now  :y

On my old merc diesel......i had a prob with that stat......it used to run cool all the time.....about 65C ....prob was it had a diesel cabin heater....that would run if outside was below 7/8C and coolant temp below 70C......so the cabin heater used to run all the time in the winter.......result was about 20mpg  :(

As i didnt know any better then......took it to a merc specialist.....told them the prob.....and i suspected the thermostat.....they told me thermostat is fine....we've tested it......i told em to change it anyway.....so they did......prob fixed  :y

My old works tranny used to have a diesel heater, on a timer. Brilliant, laying in the bath, hearing it fire up and warm up the cab :y

Used to kill the battery though...
