Top and bottom hose seem to be pressurised

Hi all
         Long running saga this one running omega 2.0L both top and bottom hoses have seemed to me to be hard as if there is too much pressure in the cooling  system. Have replaced radiator for a new one and flushed system through. Engine temp is fine fan cuts in and out ok it's really just the pressure in the hoses thats bothering me they are'nt like rock but they are pretty hard. Anyone put me out of my misery here.

System pressure should be 5 - 9 psi. The only thing controlling this (once up to temp) is the water filler cap which is the pressure regulator. Sounds like you don't have a complete blockage so either your pressure is ok or the cap has got sticky.

Probably really cheap to replace the cap for peace of mind...

               Thanks for the info did'nt realise the cap regulated system pressure. I thought it just had like an emrgency blow valve in it and once used that was that oh well we live and learn try a new replacement cap tommorrow.

whats the pressure like with the cap off and engine running ?

     Hoses are soft when rad cap is off and engine is running. Cheers Julian

The hoses should be firm, its a pressurised setup.

And of course there not gonna be firm with no cap on....

I would suggest you don't have a problem, particularly if all heating, fans etc. are working OK. Don't go looking for trouble. You'll get enough in the normal course of events anyway.  ;D ;D
