You need to put your pics on a web hosting site.
Put web address where image stored (photobucket?) between image tags - looks like this without asteriks [img**] wweb address[/img**]

Hope this helps

your leak is either an oil cooler to block pipe . . A loose filter or the drain plug. This leak is way too big for just cam covers

Hi James...

Thought I'd put a picture on so you could see.. Oil filter is dry and sump plug is tight.. I got round to looking yesterday..

I'd hoped to look before this as you said we (you  ;)) could do the cam covers this weekend..

As you're going to the meet tomorrow I thought to drive up if I could be sure the leak wasn't serious..

What do you think - should it be driven? Would we have time to do the covers on the weekend if I can get there?

Camcover is definately leaking there.

I'm actually not going to be at the meeting tomorrow, but if you are attending I am sure there are hoards of people that could give you a hand with the camcover gaskets, its a v quick job.

Have you got an Mot yet?  ::)

ahhh mmmm possibly not yet.. but kwik fit are close and never toooo busy...

I bought a battery today and am about to fit it, as it was going nowhere fast without one!

Sorry, I thought you were going, you seem to be on the list... Apart from the possibility of an interesting weekend, I thought it would save you a trip here?

What did you think of the pictures.. do they help?? and would you drive it??

It depends on the oil loss really. If it's not losing much, and didn't get worse, then you would be ok.

I was originally down as a hopeful to go, but I'm not feeling well or happy, so I'm probably not going to be able to change cambelts all day at full steam - hence not much use in me going up there.

Just started her up in daylight..

I'm no expert but it would seem possible that we did a good job removing the oil seal from the crank..  :-/ :-/

You thought it possible.. if that's what it is, how difficult is the job??

 Now I'm sad too  :(   :'(

From memory, the bits of cambelt from when the old one sheared got caught up behind the crank sprocket, and we cleaned out all the bits. When we put it together, the crank il seal looked intact.

If that seal is the problem, then it's do-able, but the cambelt has to come off again. The only hard part is the fact the bolt is done up to 100,000 nm....

There is a steady stream of oil coming down from behind the pulley attached to the crank.. it's a little difficult to see exactly where it's coming from but I seem to remember everything being dry above there when we had it apart.. Is there somewhere else could it be coming from??

My only suggestion then is that when the belt sheared down there it must have damaged the oil seal  >:(

In hindsight, it's a small setback compared to bent valves, you are lucky that engine runs at all after that incident :y

I know you're under the weather at the moment..

..but is this a job you want to look at? and if so could you give me an idea of when you might be able to get across?
