my knobs are driving me mad !!
« on: 18 March 2008, 21:39:08 »

lol - thought that might raise some interest.
I am of course talking about the door knobs on my omega.
At low rev and tickover etc more that one of them vibrate annoyingly.
Before i start stripping the door panels off to see where or if i can tighten them up does anyone have any advice if this can easily be done ?

Sorry I'm not Debs, but this is clearly a cue for my current favourite joke:

"Woman walked into a pub and asked the barman for a double-entendre ........ so the barman gave her one"  ;D

My knob is also a bit floppy  :(

Is yours a facelift omega mate? (update your profile to help us) If so, they ALL do it. It always looks like too much trouble to strip the door down but I would expect you could put a bit of foam behind somewhere to take up the slack.

A temporary (but functional) solution, though a little unsightly, was to sneak a piece of electrical tape down the gap between pin and surround (which causes the rattle) and stick it on top of the door trim.

Again, a bit unsightly but it works. Hope it firms up for you mate! It's worse in a dirty diesel!

Foam insert  - painful but worth a try.

Yes  - is facelift and a diesel !! ( dirty  - mmm maybe  might just need tickover raised a tad ) certainly not as smooth as it was.

vibrating knobs all sorted !!
couple of wraps of black insulation tape neatly round each knob did the job. Barely noticable too.
Ahhh  - silence bliss !

[musing to self mode=ON]

Are those folks moaning in the other thread about pikey-wagons vibrating knobs ?? If so, will wrapping them in insulation make them go quiet ??
