Nissan ZX300TT
« on: 17 October 2007, 15:38:59 »

I have been offered a ZX300 as a swap for the 3.2 Elite. The car has done low miles with MOTs to prove but no service history its a UK car with leather and a targa top. Im tempted, does anyone have any ideas of what goes wrong with them?

Hehe... damn nice cars in my opinion and was very tempted by one.

Ok. Info I know.

As a whole very reliable if well looked after.
60k on cambelt (need I say more)
Turbos generally need refurb around 80-100k

Avoid pre 92 cars as there were issues with the earlier ones.

Oh, and they are just a little bit quicker than a 3.2 Omega!  8-)

Lots of info here

I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole.....

Not reliable (and I mean NOT reliable)

Swines to work on

To much power and they dont corner.

These are a car I have worked on and driven.....

A mate had one (and nitro'd it). Friggin quick (esp with nitro), but reliability was poor. Also, getting parts wasn't easy. Didn't like corners much.

I'd pretty much agree with the above 2 replies... looked at them briefly back in my "Jap crap" days when I bought my WRX STi, these can be very quick in a straight line (easy to tune) but cost *lots* to run, and definitely don't like corners -- even a shoddy WRX or EVO will absolutely destroy one on any remotely twisty road. I'd stick with the Omega if you want a comfortable and reasonably cheap to run car, or go with something more focussed if you want performance.
