Headlamp Range ????? help ????
« on: 14 April 2008, 18:10:13 »

I have just got my megga back from Vauxhall bodyshop and it is displaying headlamp range on the infotaintment display, the garage are saying it is to do with the self levelling suspension, nothing to do with the front of the car,, which is where it was repaired.

Anybody have any ideas on where to start?? will this mean the car will fail MOT on Friday as I have Xenon headlamps and i believe the fault relates to their adjustment??

Any feedback greatfully received.

Nothing to do with their work...but it didnt do it when it went in and it does now they have finished the work...its a no brainer mate, their fault...as said the leveller sensor is in the area they have probably fixed/worked on...if they broke it, get them to fix it for free :)

ouch, sounds like this could be costly, is there an easy way of finding out if the sensor is shot ??

What did you have repaired on the car mate??
Personally i would be making them fix it.
If you look at the n/s wishbone on top of it you will see a sensor and an arm coming off of it, my guess is they have snapped the arm.

can be caused by sensors (one NSF wishbone, other NSR trailing arm), servos (in the headlamps) or wiring toy there (or ecu - OSF wing iirc).

I'll let you work out what part they've broken, and its NOTHING to do with suspension self levelling - thats an entirely seperate, unrelate system.

Headlamps are at the front of the car, as is one of the sensors. :-/

Chances are they've disconnected the sensor or one of the headlight motors and forgotten it. Either way, they broke it. It wasn't faulty when it went in so I'd insist they fix it. >:(

As above take it back and insist they inspect the NSF sensor :)
Had an unrelated but similar thing - the 620ti went in for a new clutch and came back running unlimited boost, muppets had connected the actuator pipework to something completely unrelated. Could have fixed it myself but just had an operation on my back. They did it within 10 minutes of me arriving there and gave me a discount on the original job :)

If it wasn't fubar'd when it went in, and it is now, you have a strong case - even more so as they didn't even know about the sensor most likely to be causing the problem  :y
