« on: 14 April 2008, 20:43:28 »

My paper  cartridge type oil filter is not unscrewing (just rotating on the engine I am thinking of cutting it off, and replacing with the screw on type I have read in the forum how to convert the paper cartridge type on the 2.5 to the spin on type, and ask if it is OK to do the same to my  2.6  thanks  Bill

Had the same problem when I first did mine mate.
Solution was to use an old bike chain type filter tool to hold the casing and a socket on the end of the filter cover to unscrew it. If youre in the last chance saloon its worth a try, had to use a piece of scaff bar on the end of the cracker bar to move it but once it's off you can tighten the filter housing back up and refit torquing to the figure cast into the filter cover.
I blame ham fisted spanner monkeys for over tightening the bloody thing.
