Is there any chance to swap 2.0 engine with 2,2? I have a nice 2.2 with gearbox (+ ECU and all cables). I know that ECU (engine and box) has to be changed as well. Exhaust system too.
What about other connections? (Dashboard and electrical?) How far do I have to go to to make it work?
Suspension and brakes are the same.

I'm not sure but i would imagine it would all be the same but i am curious, Why go to all that trouble for 200 cc ? or is your 2.0 knackered

Couple of other things - 2.2 is DBW, so need to fit the sensors for accelerator.  It also needs 4 pin brake switch.  I would need to check instrument panel coding, but MID is differnet config.  Obviously, immobiliser needs changing....  ...not sure if ABS variant coding different as well...

My 2.0 is thirsty for petrol (15-16MPG) and I am out of ideas what it might be (O2, MAF, temp sensor, no leaks in exhaust, emmision is OK). I dont want to spend next 6 months and next £500 to learn that it's still 15MPG.
2.2 is slightly better in acceleration.
I have another 2.2 Omega which is much better (40MPG on the run, 20-25 in town) so there isn't a problem with parts but thought these engines look the same, wiring is completely diferent. I could change engine, box, ECUs, but I am affraid, that, like TheBoy said, every connection is different (ABS, sensors, etc)
I have MID, dashboard, ABS pump.
I am concerned about immobiliser.

Not sure it would work that well - fuel maps etc likely to be different.

I think there has to be a 2.2 engine and box ECU. I had problem fitting oil level connection from 2.2 to my 2.0. Connection looked the same but plugs were completely different. I just don’t want to take it apart and find that I have to change all wiring in the car.

I think you use the short engine and bolt on all the 2.0 stuff - however problem may be in 2.0 electronics - so probable best getting a scrappy loom or something

Nope, all will be the same.

The only difference was the very early 2.0's had smaller discs, rest is the same.

2.0 will be about the same on fuel as the 2.2.

I would find the route cause of the low mpg on your current 2.0, DIS, leads, breathers, plugs, sensor errors.

What error codes do you have?

No errors. Didn’t have any for the last 7 months.
No misfires (no "disco lights" around spark leads)
MAF is working - can give the reading.
O2 sensor: 0-5000mV, MAX-MIN al the time, working in closed circuit.
ECU temp sensor is showing almost accurate temp (8 degrees less, but is closing O2 sensor circuit)
Spark plugs are clean, engine starts and works fine.
Exhaust manifold is new and without any cracks (new gasket fitted - no gases going outside)
It would pass emission test without any problem *can give a test results.
I couldn’t find any leaks from exhaust (TheBoy tried as well).
I think that the autobox is working fine now (not slipping)
Intake air sensor is working fine
All other readings (revs, throttle are same as they are).
Breather is clean, throttle body as well (apart from idler but I don’t have any problems with revs)
4th pot has a lower pressure but because compression tester was not scaled it was showing 17 bars on 1,2 and 3 and almost 16 on forth. I don’t have any other tool to check it but don’t think it is that big problem.
Only thing that bothers me is buzzing noise when accelerating. Like sport exhaust, bass sound. Last box is new (Bosal). Catalytic converter should be ok as the emission test was perfect. Mid box? I don’t think it might increase petrol consumption that much. Anyway - it's quieter in 2.2 but don’t know if it’s not because of different exhaust system.

I can check it today with OpelScanner and maybe you could have a look at it. Of course I would rather fix it but I don’t have any idea, what to do now... Don’t want to change everything (spark leads, plugs, sensors, MAF, O2, exhaust...)

wow, sounds like you have tried everything.

You never get better than 20mpg?

Do you do only town runs, or is it just as thirsty on a 65mph motorway cruise?

Tyre tracking ok?

Are you taking your MPG reading from the MID or working it out manually? The MID could be from another car, and not been configured correctly for yours?

Oh yes, I tried everything.
When in town its 16MPG , when going 65-70 it's up to 25MPG (worked from petrol and distance).
It;s the same on Petrol and LPG in town but on the run, on petrol I can go up to 30 (long run)
MID is showing 16 in town and 32 on the run (anyway, MID was checked by TheBoy).
Last time I did 160 miles till my LPG tank got empty and filled with 37 litres of LPG. I did some B roads between towns driving like old grandpa (no offence for grandpas )

I fixed suspension few months ago and tyres are wearing even. there's no shaking,

That crazy, I get about the same from a 3.0
