Electric fuel pump in the fuel tank 2.5TD
« on: 17 April 2008, 19:11:48 »

This pump has been giving me some grief and now appears to have packed up completely. I used to be able to hear it working as soon as I turned the ignition on, but it is now undetectable. There is power getting to the pump.
Anyone know the cheapest way for me to get a new one?

take the pump out and clean the gauze at bottom and trim long pipe down so it sits in bottom of tank ! :y

Thanks very much. Have done as you suggested other than trim the pipe as the setup of my pump is a connection to the bottom of the tank to ensure that fuel is drawn from there. Can just hear the pump priming now but not as loud as it used to be. I'm sure the pump has a problem still as the gauze filter was pretty clean, and air is obviously getting into the fuel line when fuel level drops to a 1/4 tank. MOT due in a few weeks time. If she goes through I think I will fit an external pump using the following link:

Thanks again.
