Ok,my wife was driving home last night stopped at the traffic lights and when she put the car into drive it stalled and would not restart. It has had trouble hot starting when driven for a couple of hours with the caravan but when it has cooled down it has been fine. Last night it was only driven for two miles before it stopped at the lights and wouldn't restart. >:( After we had managed to push it down a side street and left it for 10mins it started fine. The car is turning over but not firing until it is cooled down. Now i had been thinking about replacing the crank sensor so i had purchased a new one from Vauxhall and took it over to a friend mechanic  of mine last night to get it fitted. We connected the new one up and the car would not start(could be a faulty new part) so connected the old one back up and it started :o.So what could the problem be?Checked the fault codes on the scanner and it comes up with no faults present :-?Could it be that the sensor supplied is actually faulty(new one coming tommorrow) or immobiliser playing up,but when warm!! :-?.New battery fitted two months ago so that is fine.
Thanks for your help

I assume it is a V6?

I think the best bet is to try the 2nd new sensor as you have it coming.

Remember when things warm up they expand so a bad connection could be ok when cold but broken when hot (or vv).   I believe a lot of CS sensor failures are actually in the wiring due to proximity to hot bits in the engine bay.
