Seat digging in
« on: 30 May 2008, 14:28:53 »

Hi, my drivers seat is digging into my lower back in a sort of horizontal line. Unfortunately the knob on the side of the seat does nothing- just clicks after a few turns. Anyone else had this problem?

Its a '96 CD with the grey cloth seats

Thanks

Sounds like the lumbar support is busted.

Sounds on the money- any ideas if it could be fixed without a trip to an upholsterers?

Thanks

Ive never done one but would start by taking the back pocket off the seat and getting my hand inside and having a feel around.

If they are not powered seats I would be inclined to get a new set from the breakers or from any member on this site currently dismantaling a miggy. :)

Even if powered, a replacement set could be a good idea; probably the cheapest option. :y

I would imagine with the ammount of members upgrading to leather there may be some interesting interiors on offer that members dont want anymore.

IIRC the lumbar support is a very simple set up. There's a curved bar that the side knob is supossed to move through an arc, which effectively moves the bar up & down the lower back.
