can anyone tell me what the symptoms are if the maf sensor starts playing up,ta

rough running and eml light on bud

cant be that then,black smoke out the exhaust,wouldnt keep running,no eml,as soon as i put it in drive,it died,but went out later on an it ran fine,put diagnostic tool on it an it said maf sensor

It could very possibly be the MAF unit because if it's gone down it could be telling the ECU that there is more air going through it than there really is which means the ECU will increase fuel flow causing the black smoke you are getting.

try another on it mate and put a cable tie round the maf + plug to make sure its home !!
