« on: 05 June 2008, 20:41:05 »

Hi guys, I don`t want to go crazily low but what are the best options on changing springs etc..........would MV6 parts do the job, and is there anything else that would have to be changed or adjusted, in fact is it at all poss with self levelling???

Self-levelling can be disconnected by removing the air pressure hose from the nipple at the top of the shock.

Some confusion as to how MV6 are lowered, either same springs with shorter shocks, or same shocks with shorter springs (I think it depends on the year i.e. facelift and pre-facelift), but in principal if you get the relevant MV6 bits (i.e. springs or shocks) then the car will go down...

To lower it you will need to replace the springs and shocks, but it is very well worth it.

I have just done exactly this to my face-lift Elite saloon that had self-levelling. Literally only about 4 days ago.

MV6 springs and MV6 shocks all round. It has made the world of difference. Like you I didn't want a 'slammed' look, but didn't like the way the self-levelling sets the car so high at the back end..

Trust me I buggered around with for weeks disconnecting the shocks and then fitting MV6 springs wnd adjusting the bite-point of te rear self-levelling shocks, everything, but there is only one way and that is to change the lot.

The only real advantage to self levelling is when you're going to tow a caravan; are you? Are you really? The stiffer MV6 springs will carry more weight in the back before any sag happens; they were 1st concieved and produced for armoured ambulance and police cars after all.

You can always keep your old bits and put them back on or sell them with the car if you want to.

My car feels 10 times better now.

I can't recommend this upgrade enough. :y
