Front Bumper Removal
« on: 10 June 2008, 21:15:02 »

as a few of you may know i had a little 'bump' in my mig on monday ::)

nothing major to start with but the plot thickens as ever >:(

1. Trying to take the front bumper off and can't get the bottom screws out (rusted solid - soaked in plusgas last night)
2. Got the top (in wheel arch) screws out but now i can't get it back together - there is a captive nut (spring steel type) that the screw fixes too but the there is nothing to hold the nut in place.

i guess the plastic strip fitted along the front wing should have a tab at the end for this nut to slide over and hold the arch liner and bumper in place??? (dirt & friction is all i got!!!!) ????? :question

grrrrrr :-/

Top 'nut' is normally one of those clips that clip over a flat piece and takes a self tapper

yeah i know how these clips work - basicly give loads of tolerance for fitting body parts - prob is now that the 'flat bit that TB mentions isn't there anymore as the plastic tab has disintigrated :o

need a o/s & n/s bumper mount (the piece bumper slides over and should have tab on end for c clip!!!)

Star silver i think -  the bumper (plastic outer) itself is ok just the inner metal piece bent - and the plastic bumper mount rails are knackered (TB says £4 odd at dealer sound cheap?)

oh and the washer bottle FUBAR of course ;D

prob is i got the bumper half off but can't get bottom screws out and now can't get back together :-[

ps last time i went to Ikky's yard he was doing a cut and shut with a Red rear and green front of a metro - dodggy as opps ::)

13 & 14 are the bits I had to replace on my mini-facelift after it received a carpark bang that smashed the bumper.

I got the bits from the same place I got the bumper ... dave @ cirencester ... a forum member

If you ask Markey Mark or Chris from the "parts for sale" section I'm sure they'll help as they both seem to know what's what with breaking miggies ...

I have a scrap car in the driveway with nicely fitting front bumper...so presumably both of the bumper mounts are fine...£10 for the pair delivered...
