[ch65279]

This type of flying should technically be IMPOSSIBLE…………..this is truly unbelievable !!!

[ch65279]

The U. S. has nothing comparable to the Russian SU-30 - Vectored Thrust with Canards.

[ch65533]

As you watch this airplane, look at the canards moving along side of, and just below the canopy rail. This is a video of an in-flight demonstration flown by the Russian SU-30 MK fighter aircraft. You may have a problem in believing what you are about to see.

[ch65533]

The fighter can stall from high speed, stopping in less than a second. Then it demonstrates an ability to descend tail first without causing a compressor stall. It can also recover from a flat spin in less than a minute. These capabilities don't exist in any other aircraft in the world today.

[ch65533]

Take a look at the video with the sound up. This aircraft is of concern to U. S. and NATO planners. We don't know which nations will soon be flying the SU-30 MK, hopefully China isn't one of them.

[ch65533]

You've also got to acknowledge the skill of the pilot. !

[ch65533]

For those who asked - a canard is a short wing-like control surface projecting from the fuselage of an aircraft, such as a space shuttle, mounted forward of the main wing and serving as a horizontal stabilizer, OR, an aircraft whose horizontal stabilizing surfaces are forward of the main wing.

Very impressive.  There was a rusky at Fairford last year which did a pretty spectacular display, not sure if it was this one or not.

These are known as "aerodynamically unstable craft" .... in a stable aircraft the thing can be trimmed to fly "hands off" ... just like a home made paper airplane, or a large glider .. it needs no inputs and its inbuilt inertia makes it stable, but this also makes it more difficult to turn ... less agile.

The unstable aircraft requires a computor to constantly and continuously "fly" the aircraft as it will do its own thing !! This gives it little inertia (in a control sense) and allows for very agile movement, but a human would not be able to control it without the computor help, his reactions would not be fast enough

Early models that "proved" the theory were able to twist and turn at rates (g forces) that would actualy kill a human pilot .. if the aircraft did not disintegrate first !!

:)

You should have seen some of the things that the fantastic Harrier did when I was in the Falklands in 1982. I was right there seeing its awesome capabilities.

You think that is good, the Harrier was awesome, it will always hold a place in my heart

Very impressive :y....what came to mind when watching was the Harrier as the only aircraft that could do moves close to that eg rotate/adjust the VTOL nozzles (make the plane go up and avoid missiles). I know the amercians have a new aircraft that is stealth and can operate from aircraft carriers ::)

according to wikipedia, the Chinese already have 72 of them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_Su-30

with the way defence cuts are going, we'll be fighting them off with our bulldogs and tucano's.

Whilst the technology of the aircraft is beyond what the west may have I fail to see how the moves the aircraft makes can avoid it being shot down by missiles ::)....especially if they are heat seeking :-?...................

I thought the very same  ::) no good displaying what a aircraft can do, then after the display, you don't disclose that............ only this display pilot can fly it  ::) that's had a billion hours in practice for the show, so....... if all you countries that we wish you would buy it, you'll have to put your (no flying hours) pilots into, it that will crash and burn  ::) and us ruskies are quids in  ;D (more vodka vladimere)
$26 million , red smoke is extra   :'(

Jeeeeeez  ::) what does it matter who's got what  :question everybody is gonna get nuked anyway  :-[
As soon as the siren goes off........... mines a Carlsberg

Carlsberg do'nt do nuke's  ::) but if they did  ::) they'd probably be the best........................................   ;D
