steering box adjustment
« on: 21 June 2008, 16:10:56 »

Is this done via the torx bolt and lock nut that you can see on top of the steering box?
How much do you need to turn the screw to remove about 1/2" of play in the steering wheel before the actual wheel moves?
As ive heard its easy to adjust to much and then you can get premature failure of the steering box?

TIA

I found an earlier thread on the adjustment and tried it. All to no avail as i can't remove the 1/2" play in the steering wheel/box.
Is it normal to have this slight amount of movement??
All linkages checked and no play found,,as i can move the steering wheel and nothing else will move until i go past the 1/2" travel :-/

Normal to have that amount when switched off.

Don't overdo the adjustment, may overstress the box.

What are you comparing it to? Steering boxes are  generally less positive than a steering rack.
