Decided I would take the plunge and change the plugs on my low mileage, but previously laid up, 2.6.

What a pig of a job! The plug covers with the coils were practically welded on, took ages to prise them off. The passenger side was the worse of the two and I lost a bit of the plastic lip in my hour long effort to get it off. Should be OK, though, as it's on the lower side and has sealed up fine when put back on. Oddly, for a car of such low mileage, the plugs were a bit grim, especially No 1 which was going rusty at the connector! I'd love to know where this thing was stored for all those years.

The good news is that the sight tightness I felt on acceleration has gone and the car is much more responsive and seemingly far quicker.  

Just an oil change to go (short changing as only done 2000k ago) and I'll leave it alone for the winter....perhaps.

Interesting you felt a difference, I might do my plugs and breathers tomorrow... if the clutch change goes OK...

Did mine at 40k, the old ones looked OK and the new ones made no difference.. still, worth doing.

Had no issues with my coil packs though... but glad you got it done in the end.

I printed out your "How to" (thanks, mate!  ), but the coil packs were stuck fast. It was cold, and the light was fading as I got stuck with the passenger side, so I got a bit frustrated. Had I done it on a warm summer afternoon I would probably have been a bit more careful. I guess we've all been there.....

Coil packs were OK plugs all easy to change but the cable tray was a nightmare

Mine is now in 3 pieces!!!!
