Hi guys
  Thinking of buying some replacement headlights for my 98 elite estate are the Omega headlights all the same for like CD/Cdx/Elite  etc size & fitting or do they differ,  I expect new vers of Omega's differ though?

I think you get...

Lights with reflectors > Projectors > Projectors with HID.

Pre-facelift and mini-facelift are the same shape, full facelift are a different shape.  Your mini-facelift Elite was fitted with HID projectors when new, what its got now I do not know.

Am well chuffed with the HID lights on my Elite, why would you want to change yours Willy?

The lens are really dull tried the T cut method helped a bit but there well scaled & dull looking !

Probably it's not got HID's??? Does it have the little 'globe' behind the lense which is used for dipped beam or can you just see (or not see!) the bare bulbs???

Tell you what worked a treat on mine... Could not get any sandpaper fine enough, so, I used a couple of brillo pads! Took some pics of b4 and after... it is now as clear as clear can be!!! The wife suggested it too!

Might it be an old pre facelift one that was registered late pete? I didn't know the HID's went cloudy that's all. Awaiting on my original post, it could have also had an accident and someone has replaced differently?

They are Xenon bulbs in it !
It has the little globe for dipped head lights & a std looking halogen bulb in other  part for Headlight mail beam, and the side light bulb, when I pointed it out to the guy I bought it of he said it was limescale from the water in Swindon areas,  :-/said it would come off  !!!! but does'nt

So he hasn't been washing it with Yorkshire water then!?! Nay Lad! Tut.

There are a few options for cleaning and restoring which the boys will elaborate on shortly. A product which receives good reviews in the valeting/detailing world is Meguiar's 'Plast-X', personally never tried it myself but I believe is a fine polish/paste designed for plastic which restores the finish.

It won't be as bad as some audis which can look REALLY tatty after just a couple of years. I'll find you some more info on the above if no-one else is able to.

A friend got a tiny scratch on his Kenwood Hifi, being the sort of chap he is, decided he didnt want it anymore.

Young mate of his came round, blah blah blah.  Asked for some brasso and a cloth, 5 mins later the scrath was gone.

Am not saying brasso will do the job, but maybe worth at least a try on a bit of the headlight to one side..

1500 wet & dry, lots of elbow grease, followed by T-cut ... works a treat .. just make sure you kask off all the metal edges carefully or the paint surrounding the lens will take a hammering !!
