AC stopped blowing cold air...
« on: 27 June 2008, 17:02:54 »

Hi,

From this morning the AC has stopped blowing cold air  :(

I have checked the following thread nhttp://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1213951801

when idle (rpm ~500) and the AC is OFF, the front bit of the aircon compressor pulley does not turn.
When AC is ON (rpm ~600), the front bit turns I guess the same speed as the aircon compressor pulley.

Does this mean the AC needs re-gassing ?

With kind regards

It may mean that, if the refrigerant is very low the compressor will not run. With mine, as the contents reduce, the cooling becomes poor some time before the compressor is disabled.

Of course there could be other reasons, probably the only way to find out is to evacuate and regas.

The compressor is cutting in Ok by the sound of it, mine had so little gas left that the sensors knew it and wouldn't allow the compressor to operate.

Does seem a re-gas is in order.

Re-gassed the AC today. It's blowing ice cold now.  Very happy indeed.  :y

Many thanks all the help and advice.

With kind regards
