Crank Pulley Position.
« on: 24 June 2008, 01:07:45 »

  Hi,
On the Cambelt change DVD it shows the Crank pulley being replaced by aligning the mark on the pulley with a mark on the timing cover.
Does the Cambelts timing marks have to be set when the pulley is replaced?

         Thanks,
                   Pete.

Yes, if you follow the video sequence then you re-fit the pulley after the cover is fitted and the cambelt has not been moved off TDC following the final timing check at this point.

What you will actually find is that some of the crank pulley bolt holes are offset so you cant easily get all the bolts in very well if its fitted wrong.

  Thanks Mark for your reply.

Beacuse i'd left it a while between fitting the Cambelt kit and starting to finish the job due to illness i thought i'd give the engine a turn over on the key so now not on timing marks.

So if i turn the engine round so the marks are back on the timing marks on the cams, i take it this will then be in the correct position to refit the crank pulley?

  Many thanks,
                    Pete :).

Yes, turn the crank so the cma marks align with those on the backing plate and the crank will be at TDC (the alignment mark on the crank cambelt sprocket will be at 6 Oclock).

Now fit the pulley so it aligns with the pulley marker.

Thanks Mark, all sorted now, although went to fit the Auxs belt only to find it was the wrong length ::).

It had the correct part # but was only 1725mm instead of 2020mm so am having to wait for a replacement to be sent from Andy at drive :(.

Hi Mark,
Do you have the part # for the Aircon version belt?

The belt i have is part # 91126387 and was told this is the correct # but the wrong length(1725mm) and the correct length should be 2020mm with Aircon :-? .

          Thanks,
                    Pete.
