Black sealant
« on: 27 June 2008, 21:41:10 »

Just got cam gasket and sealant for 2.0xev and vx supplied me with sealant part no 93165267 which is in a 80ml plastic tub (short culking gun type tube) it is black but could someone in the know please confirm this is the corect sealant.
I think they've given me the work shop stuff as it says "not intended to be passed on to private consumers in the first line of the label.
TIA

If it's the workshop stuff and not for the private customers, you should be over the moon.  The chances are it's ten times better!

The small metal squeezable tube is about £5 so you've done OK (as long as it doesn't go off)

The sealant you have got is more of a grey and it is for sealing the oil cooler If you read the warnings it sounds like lethal stuff I was sold this too. I went back to the garage and they gave me a black sealant that their mechanics use,

in my ltd experience the grey stuff came in a bathroom sealent/squeezy gun style tube and is for the oil cooler cover. The black stuff came in a metal squeez by hand toothpaste style tube and is for the cam covers. No idea part numbers. Hope helps
