New Gear box sump?
« on: 30 June 2008, 23:41:53 »

Had a bit of oil leak from my gearbox. So I decided to tighten the sump and it worked. No more leak but trying to top up gearbox oil damaged the level bolt coz it got stuck in the sump. Anyway I couldnt undo it. it will turn but not go out. strange. And its not leaking. Any other ways to check the level of oil in the gearbox and top it up or I have to get new sump from the scrap yard?

the filler / level plug is on the main casing iirc, The box is spose to be bullet broof, so GM didn't see te need for a dip stick or easily accessible filler :-X

The box is filled from  a plug on the side, this also acts as the level.

Remember it must be done with the car when it is level.

Elite now gone.  Bought an X-Type 4x4.  If there had been an Omega 4x4 I would have bought that instead.  We really liked the Omega, but I wanted 4x4.
