Engine electronics warning
« on: 29 June 2008, 19:51:50 »

I've had the electronics warning symbol in the dash (the car with the spanner through it)come on a couple of times whilst I've been driving. If I stop turn off & then re-start the engine the light goes out. I have however noticed a bit of a reluctance for the engine to idle properly from a cold start & if I pull away the engine will bog down & stall. It seems to be ok if I let it idle for a couple of minutes to sort itself out & then pull away.
When I first switch on it idles at about 1000/1100 rpm & then rises upto 1400 and falls back to 1000. It does this a few times before finally settling down.

Is one or more of my sensors on the way out or could this be the start of something more sinister?

Clean the idle control valve.  If that doesn't help clean the throttle body and all it's surrounding breathers.  Could you please update your profile as well so we know what engine you have in your miggy.

Thanks for the info. Is there a guide for this somewhere on the site for a 2.2 petrol engine?
