Autobox not changing gear
« on: 08 July 2008, 21:48:02 »

Towards the end of a fast(ish) 300 mile drive in my 2001 3.0ltr MV6 the "automatic gearbox" sign on the mfd lit up and the box seemed to lock in top gear, although I could still drive it as a manual.  I stopped for about 30 minutes and when I re-started the problem appeared to have disappeared.  Anybody got any ideas...I haven't checked the oil level yet, but could it be overheating due to low oil level ?

Low oil usually causes loss of drive, not sticking in a specific gear... :(

As suggested .. possibly a selector switch problem ?? Have you driven through any standing water/flooding/large puddles ?? This seems to cause several selector switch problems if/when they get over wet... :(

If not its a "Tech 2" session to read the gearbox codes ...
