The best way to get the covering plate off is to use a small drift in one of the holes in the locking screw and a hammer. A new key and locking screws is available via ebay for about £10. Hope this helps.

The 3 prong key for my Senator's wheel nut cover had a 3 letter code, I think you need this code really if you want another to fit. An alternative is a pin punch & 2lb knocking stick or a pair of snipe nose pliers in 2 of the holes & then use a screw driver between the legs to lever the 'bolt' head round.

I suppose so!

Or a centre punch would do the job

Or .... if nothing else ..... I reckon a decent sized nail would do!  ;D

Vaux do sell a new key & bolts as a set, maybe best to replace them once you have got them out. Not sure on cost though.
Also long nose pliers in the holes & using a screwdriver as a bar should do the same job for removal. Have seen it done before.

Oops missed pevious mention of that idea  :-X

If long nosed pliers and a screwdriver pry-bar remove the locknuts so easily .. is it worth fitting them at all ??

I'm struggling to see how the pliers/screwdriver thing will undo something torqued up to 110 Nm .. or am I missing something ???

Have to confess, i'm thinking about the bolt holding the centre cap on mine - M8 from memory.  Universal locking bolt removing sockets available at your local tyre fitter or off ebay...so as you say - whats the point??
