cam belt change

hi

i have a 2.5 td.cd diesel 1995 omega i brought it over 4 years ago but have no idea if cam belt has been changed as i have been told it needs to be changed after a certain time and how much would it cost if i had it done with full service

thought it was chain driven the TD engine?

no belt on yours matey chain drive and should last forever if you change oil every 3k  :y

yup no cam belts on the 2.5 TD, its chain.

But as mentioned change the oil every 3k MAX.... do that, and it should do 200k easy.

Crappy BMW 2.5TDS lump is chain driven.  With regular oil changes, the chain should last a good 200k.

If you don't do regular oil changes (remember oil change interval is 4.5k on these), and chain/spockets have excessive wear, it will be an uneconomical job unless you can do it yourself.  Chain replacements on these are about £300 in parts for chain/sprockets/guides alone, plus head and sump have to be removed :o
