LPG Conversion
« on: 10 July 2008, 13:23:02 »

Just about to have my 3.2 Elite converted to LPG using the OMVL Dream 21N system. This is going to be done by a qualified installer in Kent. Having read in other posts that the meega is a pig to convert compared to some other vehicles, has anyone on the forum had theirs converted using the OMVL system? If so what's their experience of it?

mine has it, word is its a decent system, mine however was fitted my cowboys, the price i paid reflects this

James is going to try to get here saturday to see if he can do anything to help

DO NOT let my experience of it put you off, if fitted correctly i see no problem why yours should give you hassle if fitted professionally

Wingman,

Can I be so bold as to ask where you're having it done? LPG does look more and more inviting!

Get yourself a copy of the COP-11 and note the key points. Make sure your install conforms & you should be ok. Some interesting info here about the problems a guy had with an LPGA approved installer - http://www.lpginfo.co.uk

After doing mine I wouldn't say Omegas are a pig to convert so long as the car was well maintained beforehand. I could imagine people turning up with one miss-firing with oil leaks everywhere - now that would be a challenge!

Even my insurers (Privilage) said the LPGA cert isn't worth the paper it's written on but the COP must be followed.

i have recently had my elite converted, should have taken 5 days... took 2 weeks! i had it done by an approved instaler using the prins system. i  would highly recomend gettin it done, i do about 500 miles a week and its halved my fuel costs. runs like a dream, however there is a slight loss in accelaration but i feel the Financial benafits outweigh the loss in power.

Ask them to ask the forum first for Omega specifics.

We think if an installer asks we think better of them.

OMVL is cheap end normal kit - based on AEB ECUs.
Mine uses Romano - similar level to OMVL (AEB Based) but the injectors are faster.

Prinz is next level up kit.

Make sure they use the main hose back of engine to HBV for the evaporator feed

I dug out all of the paper work for mine, It was fitted in 2001 BiGas GIS, But i did note that the vaporiser feed was taken from the Coolant bridge and to the HBV, when I was replacing my manifold gasket :y
