Omega CDX - 1995
« on: 11 July 2008, 21:09:56 »

Hi all,

I've recently joined the forum having purchased a '95 CDX 2.5 V6 Auto.

I'm loving it I have to say!

I knew it was not spot on perfect, and it's got a few from what i've read common niggles.

The things i've noticed so far:

Front end doesn't like going over road humps without making a bit of a banging noise (suspension feels fine - lower wishbone bushes?)

Headlamps yellowed, and left lamp has slight delay in coming on, causing the HEADLIGHT/TAIL LIGHT fault to come up.

BRake pad wear fault comes up, even though the pads are new (I will inspect however)

Sunscreen at the back wont power to full height

Sunroof switch doesn't work - I think perhaps it's not set level closed as it's leaked today in all that torrential rain on one side.

Aircon probably needs a good degas  - she blows... but not cold!
What I'd like to ask:

Did vauxhall ever do a cream or beige interior?  all I've seen on ebay is grey or black!

Can I get an update for the phillips carin satnav?

Would the CD stereo from the later model fit in the car - (6 cd changer in boot)

What handsfree system will fit the prefitted loom in the glove tray, or is it easier to just get a new stereo which has handsfree capability with ipod connectivity already integrated?

Sorry for so many questions, but I've only had this a couple of days and i'm really bowled over by it!

I'll probably be asking a lot more questions as well!

Also is there anything I should look out for?

THanks in advance for all your help!

picking a couple of random ones

Yes, they did a cream/beige interior on all but sports seats.

There are updates for carin, but dont expect miracles - its over 10yrs old.

Superb! once i've got the thing mechanically sound, i'll look to go hunting for one!

Thats what I thought about the Satnav, but as it's already there it seems the easier option.  I realise that it'll never be a tom tom or garmin, but if I was going to do that, i'd look to something like a headunit with it all integrated - but I suppose this would affect the computer display which shows the station?  I don't know.

Thanks for the info, and thanks for the welcome!

In many respects, the Carin is better than portable units such as TomTom - esp in built up areas or wooded areas, when portable units struggle with signals.
