« on: 11 July 2008, 11:12:46 »

Still unable to change cam belt as do not have size wrench to even remove aux belt!!

So have removed iacv and doing breathers and throttle valve ect. Cant even do the cam cover gasket as still bleedin waiting for the parts!!

So... if I do breather ect... will they need to be done again (in next few days) when I (hopfully) do the cam cover gasket??

First ever job under a bonnet!!! And... throughly enjoying myslef!! ;)

The tensioner bolt in the centre of the pulley....to the right side of the engine (belt pases through 180deg round it).

Whilst you're waiting do the most thorough job you can on the various parts of the breather system and ICV. It will be time very well spent.
And no, you won't have to do it again for some time. It fouls up through long periods between oil changes, (every 5000 miles max. is ideal, using Vx. oil), which can be bought on special offer with a Trade Club card. If you haven't got one, borrow, or join autobahnstormers.
Someone will post a link soon, I'm sure.
Good luck.

..not confusing it with the V6 are you?  The tensioner turns against a spring, so you are not actually undoing the bolt, just releasing the tension off the belt so you can slip it off.

One tip - make a sketch of the belt routing around the pulleys (or photo) -will help when you come to put it back on. :y
