OOps Stupid boy!!
« on: 15 July 2008, 21:56:09 »

Inadvertently connected the battery the wrong way round while jump starting my 51 reg omega today! :'( we are on holiday near Milton Keynes and left the doors open all day :-[
Everything seems ok apart from,
Sun roof not working,
Radio not working,
Windows won't lift automatically.

I have checked all the fuses and all seem ok, talked to an auto leccy today he says it could be the Multi Function Control unit that us?

Can anyone else throw any light on the subject,as regards where I can get one from round here and where the hell is it in the car. :o

sunroof and windows sound like they just need resetting, and if you have the code, the radio can be sorted too

with ignition on... (doesnt need to be engine on tho)

move sunroof dial into each fully open position, press and hold it in until sunroof stops, do the same in the fully raised position, and again in the fully closed position

with all windows up, press each individual window in the UP position til you hear a click

When you say sunroof / windows "not working" do you mean they stop / start in the "wrong" places or they won't move at all ??

Radio is probably just a security coding problem

Thanks for the replies.

The sunroof doesn't work at all and the windows open and close but won't close automatically. I will try resetting them in the morning.
The radio wont turn on at all so not sure if I can enter the code.

for radio, check fuse on back of radio itself (often blows in such circumstances)

On holiday in Milton Keynes, Respect!  :y

Lights should go off on your motor in the doors etc after approx five minutes!?! That shouldn't flatten your battery...sounds like it's on it's way out.

"Multi-function control unit"!?!"...I smell bullshit my friend!  ;)

Reset windows and sun roof all great thanks people. ;)

Will try radio later, is it a small "allen" key to remove the grub screws?

Thanks again.

Small allen key to remove the grub screws and then a set of extraction tools (can get them from Halfords). The fuse on the back (think its 20A but might be 10A) will have blown.

The Omega does not have a body control module.....so it wont be that!
