HBV Packed up i think
« on: 16 July 2008, 16:43:00 »

My mv6 is playing up abit its running hotter and is loosing water only a bit but if i thrash it steam comes from the drivers side rear end of the engine i think the HBV has gone and am going to replace it

the cars done 117k

ive changed the crank sensor so know how to remove the scuttle is there anything else i should change while its all off?

its still on its original DIS pack so im thinking this must be on the way out!

sounds like HBV right enough......and a Dis Pack on that mileage is rare !

However theres a wee bit of additional work and cuts and bruises in replacing that but ultimatley its fiddly rather than complex  :y

dis pack aint too bad if you take scuttle off and wiper linkage and plenum top ! while your in there might as well do it at that mileage seen as hbv has been leaking  :y

the coil on the vectra cost me £280 new and is just over a yr old

the vectra doesnt have a hbv :( can anyone give me a gm part number as it aint in my big yellow book :(

its the original coil as car has a recipted fsh and theres no mention of one! it is slowly packing up though i think now and again it missfires and wont start leads are all good and plugs were changed when i done the rockers
