BMW remap ECU for a Meg 2.5 TD?
« on: 17 July 2008, 18:25:54 »

Thinking of getting rid of my BM 325 TDSE as its just collecting rust. The point is its been re maped by Van Arknel to give arround 180 bhp (its also got a gismo on the side of the turbo, which I assume is for increased boost presure). The remap works really well, it shifts and returns 45 to 55 mpg even with a heavy foot.

My question is this is there anything I can salvage from the ECU, Eprom etc that benefit my Megy 2.5TD (manual)?

The boshe ECU ends for the BM ends with 201 didgits where as the Megy ends with 214, different ECU,s and eproms, any thoughts.?

no go? in what way?
as an aSIDE THE ENGINE IN THE BMW IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT, this being the position of the turbo (maybe slihtly different ports as well)and a huge difference in intercooler positioning and size, and a different airfilter assembly as fa as i know the rest is the same :y

Couldn't even get it to start.  Wouldn't even bring EML on with ign.

Most of the maps that Terry has for BMW TDS are wrong size, so only a choice of 2 or 3...

TB, did u try the ECU or the eprom?.

Any one know the difference between an early BM 201 ECU and an early Mig 214 ECU?

If injection pump is compatible (not all ecus worked with all injection pumps), it probably could be made to work if you could bypass BMW's immobiliser  :-/
