Cam Cover gasket and HT Leads Quotes:

from my local vauxhall...

85.78 per side!!!   what the F!!@

H.T. Leads:
260 for a car kit !!!!

You can buy a set of Magnecor KV85 racing leads for half that!

Any suggestions on alternative cover gasket kits and HT leads?

We have a set of genuine cam cover gaskets for sale in the shop......much cheaper.

For leads, bosch ones are quite good enough so try your factors, about 30-40 quid for a set of 6.

I just buy set of cam cover gasket on vx in st ives  pay 68.15
I use before budget ones they crap every 2 months need chenged

64 quid plus postage in the shop and it includes the gaskets for both banks, athe bolt O rings, the correct black sealent and the orings and breather seal so you can clean the breathers out at the same time.

If you're after performance leads I might be able to arrange a bit of a discount on  the Formula Power 10mm ones in the link i posted in the thread asking if anyone has used them. The guy has said he'll waive postage for us if we all order within a reasonable time period! :y :y

Think he's talking about a couple of weeks or so but need to try and sort it later... As soon as I know I'll post the details! Could be said I'm doing it for a selfish reason because I'm definitely getting them and want a discount too! ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D

By the way, dont expect any improvement what so ever from ignition leads......unless your old ones are knackered.

Well aware of that one thanks... I'm more interested in the improved conductance (proven on my Rangie) as I'm just about to fit the LPG kit to mine. Although they did improve the general running of the car, the MPG improvement was marginal. Mind you... It only ever did low-mid teens on petrol to start with, then fit an outdated, single point, open-lop LPG system and you can't really expect much improvement!!!  ::) ::) ::) :y :y :y :y

Also like the fact that he guarantees them for 10 years!! :y :y :y

That price for the cam cover gasket sounds like it's for the cover and the gasket + o rings. I believe there was a modification to the cam cover on the later models so Vx parts system brings the whole thing up as a replacement. If you tell them you only want the gasket and 'o' rings it will be much less. However as Mark says good deal if you buy them here at OOF. Plug leads are made by BERU I believe if you can find a stockist who will order them for you it might be much cheaper.

It will make jack all difference to the spark....

On the old Range rover and land rover engines you had a pissy little distributor, a single coil plus rotor arm and distributor. THe result is a peek spark voltage of about 32-33Kv which drops off as the revs increase......the Omega has a DIS setup (or coil per plug on the later ones) and deliver in excess of 40KV even at higher revs!

They will make only one difference, a hole in your pocket  :y

They are also likely to not have a higher level of conductance (which is the inverse of resistivity) as the leads are designed to be resistive to reduce interference.  :y

Actually that all makes perfec sense... I hadn't looked at it that way!!  :-[ :-[ :-[

I think I'll save my money and stick to the ones that are on there. I don't have any issues at the moment (famous last words!!)

I'll definitely be buying from the OOF!

I just thought I might as well replace the HT leads whilst I'm at it if i'm going to do the plugs, and belts as well.

I was quoted just under 30 quid for a complete new bosch set from my local motorfactor so i'll be looking there possibly.

I'll definitely look at BERU leads, but i'd like to think that the bosch are to OEM spec at least.
