knock sensor

hi all,
do i need to replace knock sensor as eml comes on and off, ive done paper clip test and it says its knock sensor, by not replacing or repairing this will it affect the running of the car, ??? :-/

Check your oil level and top up to the max on the dipstick.  Low oil can trigger knock sensors.  A lean mixture can also bring a knock sensor code up - unlikely but happens with lean lpg system maps.
