Hi Folks,Can anybody tell the correct tickover in RPM  in drive and also in park please,My car is a Wreg 2.0ltr auto.

not sure about drive and park, but 2L are generally around 6-700 as I recall (V6's are less). Also depends if AC is on.

Should be about 600 in neutral, and about 700 with air con on.

Hi,Thanks for the info on idle speed,in drive when i wait a traffic lights for example it is idling about 550rpm and about 600rpm in park or nutral ,can l adjust it myself.

I think you need tech 2 for that, but why do you want to adjust it?  Is it stalling?

Worth a look in the maintenance guide section for the guide to cleaning 2.0 breathers, throttle body, idle valve - it will make a world of a difference if you've not done it before.

I have a stalling 2.5TD.  I've a thread elsewhere.  I've done the diesel magic trick 4 times and a paperclip test to look for problems.  I asked the question if it was possible to increase the idle through a laptop or Tech 2?  If I could increase the idle it would not stall when I select gear or switch the aircon on.

The stalling issue I was hinting at is unique to 4 pot petrols (2.0/2.2's).  

 I'm no diesel expert, but I am sure that tweaking the idle is not the best solution.   Post up in another thread and I'm sure a diesel expert will advise.

if it aint broke don't fix it.  idle should be ECU controlled so I'd not worry unless it was giving you problems.  increasing the idle will probably burn more fuel and make the auto more prone to creep: up to you if you like that or not

Mine sits between 600 and 750, depending on how it feels.  Sometimes its 600, sometimes as high as 750.  Doesn't stall (I don't have aircon, though), just a bit harsh.  I have done the breathers recently, though..

Before I had my engine trouble, i had a rough idle of anywhere between 500 and 900; breathers were blocked solid and someone had decided the only way to raise the idle was by opening the throttle stop up.  Only found this out when the replacement engine (with cleaned breathers) wouldn't idle below 1400rpm...
