Queastion 1 - Rear Bumper.
« on: 02 August 2008, 00:28:04 »

Murphy's Law for me this week, if it was likely to happe this week then it dis.  Computer probs plus a couple of other minor isues with the car in Questions 2 and 3.

Went for some cash last night, some pilok came down the road where I wanted to turn round, he pulled up and sat there oblivious to all problems he knew he was causing.

So I spotted a space, saw the wall before it, reversed down focusing on the pillar part of the wall as I thought it was the corner and tried to tuck in tight round it.

Too Right, The piller wasnt on the corner of the wall. was it.

So yeah, Muppet there hit the wall with the rear quarter of the passenger side of the bumper.  Bumper no big deal, Might be slightly out of line on wheel arch, only a tad if it is.

But I knackered the chrome insert.

Are they easy to change?  can a second hand one be aken easly off one car and fitted to annother.  Or is is new parts from dealer only.  If so whats required.  Does anyone have part numbers and prices.
Car is a 99 TP late 3.0 Elite 4 door Saloon.

TIA.   :y

chrome strip is a doddle to replace.  Take the bumper off, then working from inside, unclip the colour panel (i.e. the large bit of the bumper that matches the car.  Then out comes the crome insert - comes in three pieces.  Ball park £20-£30 each new I guess.

For what it's worth i would not bother replacing just one part 'cos it will stand out from the rest.  Scrap would be the way to go

however, if you are careful you can probably hammer it back into shape so it looks o.k.  That's what I did when some tw*t in a BMW drove into the back of mine.  Still sent him a bill for a new part!

Am just going to pull the strip out I think.  I have no interest in sortigng it at the mo.

Might go for a body kit later in the year, so a waste of time at the mo.
