ADVICE PLS ON PRESSURISING 3ltr ELITE,     my baby is ill, not long bought car from london,drove some 300mls home with not a flicker. 8-)later noticed top and bottom hoses were solid to squeeze and excessive pressure at the header tank,heater blows only hot temp gauge reading high(100)   checked usual suspects ie no oil in water and vice versa.and no misfire  '( so changed thermastat and header tank cap.after flushing system ofcourse.   on test run symptoms still the same!!!!    could my problem be anything other than the nasty H G word any ideas greatly appreciated    ps(fans are both working as they should. thanks,  obb368

Question, is water coming out of the header tank cap......if no, then its not over pressurising!

They are designed to run at pressure!

Can you define a bit more? Is it pushing water out though the cap?

possibly HBV... worth checking/replacing it.

You are releasing as soon as you stop? Well if the engine is at full temp, then it is going to bubble up and come out.

Standard operating temp is around 95, 97 fans kick in. If you release the cap, air is going to get it, and it will boil...

Check the HBV.

but this should self bleed shouldn't it?

heater blows only hot - that could be HBV.   Do a search in the maintenance guides for picture and howto replace.
